Avaerin, Simaria, Maeriya, and Neri are hiding in the north, bracing for the coming winter. Silence and peace seem to have taken over their days, but Simaria can’t escape from the persistent nightmares that threaten to drive her insane.

When a raven arrives, asking Avaerin to help a friend in need, Simaria uses the opportunity to run away and search for the dagger, hoping to destroy the monster that lives inside of it and haunts her dreams.
